Making a sweet statement of unity during times of tension between cultures
As conflicts between communities and cultures arise, the Asian community in the US is at the center of it. We wanted to make a statement of unity during these challenging times and this Lunar New Year offered an opportunity. As our brand stands for ‘Team Up for Excellence,’ we collaborated with traditional Chinese sugar painting Master Yajun Sui, and American Multimedia Artist Elizabeth Hodes to create a sugar sculpture representing unity between two cultures. Using the traditional Chinese craft of sugar painting, we created ‘Sweet Art’ – a massive artwork made completely out of caramelized sugar. It is a visual celebration of two communities coming together. And since it is said that the coming year is influenced by the food that you offer at this occasion it also acts as a food offering during Lunar New Year in order to make the coming year of the Ox a sweeter one for everyone.
